A new version of one of the House's emblematic designs, the Pilar women's gloves are reinvented entirely in suede, tone on tone. Along the side of the hand and around the thumb runs the Pilar stitch, a decorative seam hand-sewn through fine perforations, which has become one of Agnelle's signatures. The lambskin suede, wonderfully soft to the touch, offers instant comfort and a suppleness that moulds to the hand from the very first wear. Lined with silk, they stay light and pleasant to wear every day. At the wrist, a slit closed with an Agnelle-engraved snap makes them easy to slip on and adjusts the fit. Designed by Maison Agnelle, French glovemaker since 1937.
The Pilar is my everyday glove, the one I grab without thinking on my way out. In this all-suede version, it takes on something both bohemian and chic, as easy with jeans and a chunky sweater as with a suede jacket or a long wool coat. The suede softens and moulds to the hand over the weeks, until it becomes a second skin. And that little stitch along the side, I would recognise it anywhere: it's a little like the House's handwriting.
The Agnelle ateliers were founded in 1937 in Saint-Junien, France’s “City of the Leather Glove”. The same craftsmanship continues to this day there, inscribing and galvanizing the Agnelle name in its time. For three generations, three visionary and determined women have transmitted the same savoir-faire for the production of the world’s most beautiful glove collections.
Agnelle remains to this day a discreet partner to the greatest fashion labels. In 2006, Agnelle was recognized as a “Living Heritage Enterprise" and since 2011, Agnelle is registered in UNESCO’s “Métiers d’Arts Rares.”
